Diversion Flow Monitoring

Eyasco builds integrated systems to measure flow

in diversions via pumps or irrigation canals, as well as reservoir storage volumes.

This project takes place on a ranch where river water is diverted through canals for irrigation and reservoir storage. The diverted water is closely monitored and recorded by our QuB systems.

This system captures flow rates every 15 minutes and uploads the data to our servers hourly. Eyasco’s Merlin software utilizes these flow rate measurements to generate an annual total flow report, summarizing flow information by year and month. These reports can be generated automatically, on a schedule, or manually via the Grabdata Reports interface.

Measuring Flow

The Acoustic Doppler Flow Meter can be a cost-effective solution to measure canal flows. The sensor profiles water velocities and uses the canal's cross-sectional area to determine flow rates. The sensor can also provide additional stream information such as stage and water temperature. This sensor can also be installed in culverts, pipes,
and natural streams.

Annual flowmeter Flowmeter Calibration Services ensure optimal performance and detect any potential discrepancies caused by wear and tear, environmental factors, or other influences. This is done to validate station flowmeter readings against established standards, ensuring the flowmeter’s accuracy. This service also provides the necessary certification and verification for diverters when reporting to regulatory authorities.

Real-Time Temperature and Flow Monitoring

Daily temperature variations

Annual temperature for 3 year term

Ranch managers can observe water temperatures at multiple locations on the creek, in diversion canals, and return flow facilities, using the information to operate in a manner that would minimize temperature impacts due to irrigation return flow.
